About Mt. Washington
The Island's largest ski facility, Mt. Washington Resort, offers year-round activities with everything from snow reports in the winter to hiking, mountain biking and fishing in the summer, or a great place for just plain relaxing anytime with the new Strathcona Parkway paved all the way to the resort leading the resort into a new future. The new 3.5 million dollar state of the art sewage treatment plant that has replaced the old plant will allow Mt Washington to continue to grow.
The Mountain has under gone major upgrades in the past few years with the addition of the High Speed Eagle Quad Chair lift, this allows the skiers twice the vertical they use to ski in a day, plus you nearly never see a lift line. The 6-person Hawk Chair has replaced an older lift and keeps the busy lines to a minimum. A hotel has also been added.
Mt. Washington has some of the finest runs you will find any where in the pacific northwest, it has the Chute or Vertical Smile for those who want a true challenge, or Lintons Loop for the beginner, there is a run for every level of skier.
You are seeing more visitors at Mt Washington in the summer months in the past few years, Mt. Washington does keep their facility open over these months. You will find Fatt Teddys Bar and Grill is a great place to dine at after you have had a chance to hike the Strathcona Park or have taken a run up the Eagle Chairlift. If you have not heard yet, they do take Mountain bikes to the top of the chairlift, offering some of the most challenging downhill on the Island.
